Pheed: The New Social Media Player
What is Pheed?
Are you “Pheed-ing” yet? Yup, there is another social media platform joining the game, Pheed. Pheed launched last year, a social media platform that allows you to express yourself via text, photo, video, audio and live broadcasts. It is like a combination of Facebook, Twitter, Google +, YouTube, and Instagram. Users will have their own channel where all your text, photo, video, audio and live broadcasts will appear and similar to Twitter, you can find channels to follow and view contents via #Hashtags. Another function on Pheed, very similar to what Facebook is planning to do, is filtering the updates you want to see. You can view all contents or filter by Text, Audio, Photo, Video, Broadcast, or Remixes (Remixes is basically Pheed’s way of saying repost. Like how Twitter use “Retweet” and Pinterest use “Repins).
Users can charge other users anywhere from $1.99 to $34.99 to view their Pheed or to subscribe to their channel. Pheed makes money by taking half of the revenue.
What Should Marketer Do with Pheed?
Pheed says that the app is for everyone; however, based on what Pheed told Mashable about their user base, 81% of the user base is between age 14 and 25. If your target audience is teenagers, then Pheed can be a good opportunity for you to market to them.
