As we all should be expecting, like every social media platform, Pinterest is rolling out business accounts!

Today on Pinterest’s blog, not only did they announce the business accounts but also new terms of service for businesses.   Pinterest now have two sets of terms – One for the people and one for businesses.

Before the business account, many businesses probably created a personal account and used it for business.  So now that there is a business account, do the businesses have to create a new account and repin everything? NOPE! You can simply convert your personal account to business accounts in a few minutes.

How to Convert Personal Account into a Business Account

Step 1: Go to business.pinterest.com (the new Pinterest URL for businesses) and click on the RED “Convert your existing account” button.

Step 2: Select your Business Type, and fill in the information for Contact Name and Email Address.  If you are not sure which business type you belong to, no worries.  Pinterest gives a few examples of each business type so that you can get an idea which one you belong in.

Tip: Use a company email address so that the business account won’t be tied to anyone’s personal account.  What happens if the employee left the company?  Then you are screwed.

Step 3: If you haven’t filled your profile information out when you created the personal account, fill them out now.  If you did that already, you can move along.

Tommy – We all knew it was a matter of time before Pinterest would do this. Thank you for offering up this information. You always have the most informative posts and I always learn something new. :-)

Hey, thanks for the heads up. I opened a peronal account to expand my business, but I better go and upgrade!

IF it is for your business, you should definitely upgrade it. I am willing to bet that Pinterest will roll out other tools to help Pinterest optimize their views and traffic. Furthermore, you get resources from Pinterest to guide you in how to use the business account. Definitely worth the 5 mintues used to convert.

That’s good to know. I’ve been tinkering with Pinterest for a few months now and will definitely consider doing this.
